Is it possible to buy used underwear on a vending machine in Japan?

Living in Japan over a year the question I’ve been asked most is if it really is possible to buy used underwear on a vending machine.

In Japan almost anything can be bought on a vending machine. My favourite: The condom vending machine with “Happy Family Life” written in big letters on it.

Back to the underwear… I made a little research out of it, went to Japan’s biggest Sex Shop, which has six floors and asked a lot of people… finally it’s an urban legend. But it used to be possible for a really short time in very few shops and they quickly became forbidden.
