Just back from Myanmar my first post is a cost estimation. I didn’t include the flight because I came from Tokyo. I was travelling with a friend which made it cheap because we were able to share rooms and transportation. All accommodations had breakfast included.

This all sums up to about 320 Dollar. Food and the flight are not included. I’ve always listed the full price for transportation but a lot can be saved by sharing. I paid about 5000 Kyat for food per day, but if you like instant soup you can save a lot because a portion is about 120-200 Kyat.
Please be aware that prices in Myanmar can change pretty fast. Those mentioned above are from January 2015.
I brought Dollar and Euro, the Euros for changing into Kyat. Many guidebooks mention prices in Dollar but there is a change to the local currency in many places. I also saw many ATMs taking Visa and Mastercard. Fees were between 4000 – 5000 Kyat per withdraw.
As always I hope that this estimation helps you making plans.
Don’t Panic!
