How much is Morocco? Cost estimation for 5 Days in Marrakesh + Excursion
Recently, I visited Morocco for about a week. I was quite surprised that it’s a quite cheap country. As always I wrote down my expenses and here’s a cost estimation:
General: | |
---|---|
Lunch/Dinner | 25 – 70 MAD |
Water | 5 – 10 MAD |
Fresh orange juice | 4 MAD |
Transport/Accommodation in Marrakesh: | |
---|---|
Bus Airport (Roundtrip) | 50 MAD |
Kaktus Hostel, 10-Bed Dorm, Breakfast included | 5.00€/night (plus 40% taxes) |
Sights in Marrakesh: | |
---|---|
El Bahia Palace | 10 MAD |
El Badi Palace | 10 MAD |
Chair Koutoubia Mosque in El Badi Palace | 10 MAD |
Tombeaux Saadiens | 10 MAD |
Place Djeema El Fna | free (in case you don’t take pictures of things people want you to pay for) |
Souks | free (in case you buy nothing 😉 ) |
Jewish cemetery | free |
Excursion through Atlas Mountains to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate: | |
---|---|
Tour (without food) | 30€ |
Tourguide Ait Ben Haddou | 20 MAD |
Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate | 20 MAD |
Film studios in Ouarzazate | free* |
* In fact studios cost entrance fee, but I couldn’t enter because of filming teams.
This adds up to 71€ or 14,20€ per day. But similar to other cost estimations I didn’t include food and flight. As exchange rate I’ve used 10 MAD = 1 €. In case anyone wonders that no mosques are included, this comes from the fact that entering a mosque as a non-Muslim is prohibited. But there are plenty that can be seen from outside. I really liked the hostel I stayed in. I took me about two minutes to get to Djeema El Fna, so it had a very central location and was cheap.
Don’t Panic!
