E-Visa for Myanmar
I will travel to Myanmar in January and as you all probably know, a visa is needed for that. I was very pleased to read that there’s a E-Visa available, because I always worry about my passport. So I choose that way.
Under evisa.moip.gov.mm it can be applied for the visa and with a little preparation it only takes a few minutes.
Required things:
- Passport
- Credit card
- Accommodation
- Digital photograph
The picture must be prepared. Required is a picture taken from the front which a neutral face, similar to a biometric picture. Size should be 4,6 x 3,8 cm, I would recommend preparing it using a program.
There’s a preview on the website, it shows a little “widthened” picture, but there’s no need to worry there’s a better preview on the confirmation site. If there’s something wrong with the picture the process has to be started from the beginning, so the picture should be done first.
When all data is checked, the site forwards to a payment website. It uses Verified by Visa, so it’s required to register for that, if it has never been used before. The website finally displays a tracking number.
Just after the application I received a confirmation mail about the successful application. And only a day later I received the Approval-Letter. That was super fast and I really liked the process. It was easy and there was no need to worry about my passport.
Don’t Panic!
Hi Alise,
I’ll travel to Myanmar soon. There’s something about e Visa that is not clear to me. Whats the next step after receiving the Approval-Letter? Have I to print it and bring with me to Myanmar to get the Visa stamped on my passport?
Confusion comes to me because this:
3. Can I print my Visa in Black and White?
Yes, you can, as long as it is clear for checking by immigration officer.

Best regards
Hey Albert,
I just arrived in Myanmar today and printing the Approval letter in black and white was sufficient. In addition you should have a return ticket they might asked for that. That’s it.
Have a save trip and don’t panic.
Thank you so much! If everything goes well, I’ll be there on 25th.
