[Tokyo on a Budget] Many museums for little money
I don’t know how you think about it, but I really like visiting museums. But if you’re not in England this can get really expensive. In Tokyo there are so many museums and an average entrance fee is about 500 Yen.
For a few years it’s possible to buy the Grutto Pass, this is a coupon booklet for 2000 Yen. Using this coupons you can access about 60 museums for free and get a discount on about 20 others. It’s valid for two months and every year in March there’s a new edition of the pass.
You can buy it at any facility where you can use it, for example in the famous Ueno Zoo or the close by National Museum of Nature and Science which is highly recommended. Also many private collections can be entered with this pass. It could be that a Picasso, a Rembrandt and a Monet hang next to each other.
If you plan well, the pass can save you money even if you only use it for a day. A list of all museums, zoos and parks can be found here.
Don’t Panic!
