Backpacker’s Guide to the World – Why?
From early age on I always enjoyed travelling. Like many of you too I dreamed from faraway places. And for a long time everything was limited to dreams I had and plans I made but never actually did.
And time passed… The most difficult decision regarding a trip is the first one, the one where you decide that you want to do the trip. The will that a dream should now become reality. And for that I needed some stress, a cool event and a really long train ride.
I 22 years old and suddenly I imagined me being 70 looking back on life – full of disappointment. Disappointed to never have seen any of the places that I always wanted to visit. As a plus this was the time when I started to strongly question the news and I really wanted to know how it is t be in a certain country myself. The stress, the cool event because of which I was on that train doesn’t matter now. What matters is this train ride and an important thought I had there:
No! It will never ever be like that. I won’t sit there one day being sad. I will there enjoying all the memories I collected travelling the world.
I took a piece of paper and wrote everything that I wanted to do within my life, like a to do list for life. I wanted to travel to Cambodia first, seeing Angkor Wat had been a dream for ages. Because of the expensive flight ticket I decided to visit Vietnam and Thailand as well. And after a little more thinking, checking my bank account I tried to pack everything I ever wanted to visit in one big trip. Which was impossible due to money, but I finally made 23 countries during my world trip and many others on different trips.
And this is what Backpacker’s Guide to the World is about. I would like to share my stories, give advice and set people thinking about travelling our wonderful planet.
