Bakepacker Cake – Baking while travelling
There are days where I’d really love to eat some cake or prepare a little present for my Couchsurfing host. But baking isn’t easy in a hostel’s kitchen because it’s equipment can be very limited. In case you can find a microwave this literally cupcake can be done quickly and easily. It doesn’t need many ingredients and takes about ten minutes.
Ingredients (2 cups):
- 8 tablespoons sugar
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 10-16 tablespoons flour
- 1 egg
- Something that adds flavour to the cake: chocolate, cocoa, banana, cinnamon,… If you add something fluid you have to adjust the amount of milk.
Other things you need:
- Microwave
- Cups
- 1 tablespoon
The ingredients can be mixed in the cup by using the tablespoon. Just the egg is a bit tricky. Add flour until the dough can “hold” the spoon. Then the cups are put into the microwave for about two minutes on a medium level. Two minutes are minimum and the time depends on the microwave. So watch the dough and it’s done when the dough moves upwards or you can clearly smell the cake. In case the time wasn’t sufficient just add another minute in the microwave until it’s done.
Enjoy the cake and like always Don’t Panic!
